4 Risky Biotech Stocks That Could Rise 200% to 300%

BofA has four biotech picks with upside targets of 200% to 300%. These are risky and may not be suitable for every investor. Still, it's not that common to see large brokerage and investment banking giants issue such strong upside potential.

Biotech is the one sector where investors know they can find the highest number of stocks with potentially limitless upside ahead. Investors also know, or they better know, that emerging biotechs pose the greatest risks with the potential for a total loss of capital. That’s the risk-reward scenario emerging biotech investors have to assume. BofA has four biotech stocks that the firm sees massive upside potential — 200% to 300% upside to BofA’s price objectives.

First and foremost, BofA is unlike some of the smaller firms on Wall Street with moonshot price targets on dozens of stocks. BofA’s typical analyst coverage universe is not just moonshots with limitless upside. And the four biotech upside targets are all now after each of these four stocks have reported earnings and taken their financial updates past the “quarterly risk cycle” that is so common among risky biotech stocks. Just don’t ever forget that biotechs have many more risks than can easily be stated.

Oggonomics has highlighted the four potential moonshots from BofA’s August 14 update with some logic to back the upside potential. What has also been covered is each stock’s historical trading range, its market cap, and how much cash each company has with an outlook for how long that funding will last each one. Additional “risk” commentary has been noted if available. And other competing analyst price targets and ratings and price targets have been covered if reports were made recently.

Before only looking at huge upside biotech price targets, do not forget or overlook that each of these biotech stocks are clinical stage with no revenues and a history of losses due to R&D funding and operations. Biotechs are also notorious for raising capital (diluting shareholders) after posting good research updates. And none of these stocks are expected to post actual revenues and generate earnings for quite some time. And any or all of these pre-revenue bets could flop and result in massive losses.

Clinical-stage biotech stocks are generally not suitable for retirees and risk-averse investors who are looking for capital protection. They may not ever post strong earnings that would merit dividend payments, maybe even for more than a decade even if their upside potential actually plays out as expected. In short, even if these picks are from BofA versus smaller boutique firms, there is just a lot of risk that can make them unsuitable for many investors.

BofA has reiterated its Buy ratings and price objectives on these four biotechs, with a keen focus on the post-earnings snapshots.

Acumen Pharmaceuticals – Potential Alzheimer’s Winner

Acumen Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (ABOS) at $2.67
BofA price objective: $8
52-week range: $1.21 – $3.60
market cap: $193 million

Other analyst targets: BTIG (Buy) $8

Financial notes: Cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities of $110.2 million as of June 30, 2026, expected to support current clinical and operational activities into early 2027.

BofA did note some caution around earnings, but has a positive view on Alzheimer’s for the upside price objective here:

Acumen’s $110M in cash should easily fund the company through ALTITUDE, leaving it one of the more intriguing near-term opportunities in the space given the possibility of not only matching but exceeding the approved antibodies for Alzheimer’s — an outlook not well reflected in shares, in our view.

Eikon Therapeutics – Targeting Cancers

Eikon Therapeutics, Inc. (EIKN) at $11.05
BofA price objective: $32
52-week range: $7.90 – $17.40
market cap: $598 million

Other analyst targets: Wedbush (Underperform) target $4 (cut from $5 on 8/14)

Financial notes: Eikon had cash, cash equivalents, and marketable securities of $531.2 million at end of Q2-2026. Eikon expects its current cash, cash equivalents, and marketable securities to fund operations into the second half of 2027.

BofA’s upside was mainly targeting NSCLC (non-small cell lung cancer) and prostate cancer. Please note that Wedbush (shown above) is very negative here and expects a considerable downside move in Eikon’s shares.

Inhibikase Therapeutics – Targeting PAH

Inhibikase Therapeutics, Inc. (IKT) at $2.41
BofA price objective: $6.00
52-week range: $1.33 – $2.53
market cap: $336 million

Other analyst targets: Oppenheimer (Outperform) $5 target; Ladenburg Thalmann (Buy) $4.00 target; HC Wainwright (Buy) $8.00 target

BofA did caution that near-term catalysts are limited, but it also noted that Inhibikase’s phase 3 IMPROVE-PAH is progressing as planned and that its story remains on track on track. The update noted:

Regulatory approvals have now been secured in 26 countries, with 43 clinical sites recently activated. Beyond the trial’s advancement, several developments supported the broader IKT-001 thesis, including FDA’s grant of Orphan Drug Designation, ATS presentations suggesting improved GI tolerability versus native imatinib, and a $50M financing that, together with existing balance sheet, should extend the runway through the planned Part B topline. We also see constructive regulatory developments across the broader PAH landscape, with recent FDA feedback elsewhere in the TKI class suggesting the agency remains receptive to novel PAH therapies despite mixed clinical results… we continue to see favorable risk/ reward for shares as investors await further enrollment and development updates.

Financial notes: As of June 30, 2026, cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities were $159.0 million, but subsequent capital in July (post-Q2) leaves a higher cash position. Inhibikase Therapeutics had additional developments from a capital raise of $50 million from a stake sale and Orphan Drug milestone, and BofA noted that Inhibikase pro forma cash of approximately $209 million leaves should extend its financial runway through the planned Part B topline.

Additional note from earnings: Together with the recent grant of Orphan Drug Designation from the U.S. FDA and the $50 million proceeds from the sale of shares to RA Capital, Inhibikase believes it is well-positioned to advance IKT-001 toward its potential as the first once-daily oral anti-proliferative offering significant potential benefits to the PAH patient population. Post-funding notes in the earnings report said:

Inhibikase is well-positioned to advance IKT-001 toward its potential as the first once-daily oral anti-proliferative offering significant potential benefits to the PAH patient population… regulatory approvals for the Phase 3 study have been obtained in 26 countries with 3 additional country approvals pending and 4 additional country regulatory submissions planned.

Rocket Pharmaceuticals – Target Danon Disease

Rocket Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (RCKT) at $3.47
BofA price objective: $10.00
52-week range: 2.5300 – 5.45
market cap: $380 million

Other analyst targets: Wedbush (Outperform) $15

Financial notes: Cash, cash equivalents and investments of approximately $283.7 million; expected cash runway into the second quarter of 2028. BofA’s notes did not include any major changes, but the prior upgrade from Neutral was just on August 3, 2026. Rocket reported positive safety updates from its phase 2 study of gene therapy RP-A501 in Danon disease with no adverse effects in the first three patients treated under the revised protocol. BofA said:

The news is a key win, in our view, marking a major step in getting Rocket’s lead program—and still primary value driver—back on track by opening the door to FDA engagement around additional dosing and the pivotal study design, with an update expected in 2H. And while BofA’s take noted that Rocket Pharma’s prior FDA engagement provides reason for optimism, it also has a caveat of caution:

With FDA alignment the primary gating factor from here, we wouldn’t be surprised if concerns linger given the agency’s recent pushback on other gene-therapy programs. To be fair, FDA’s response is generally difficult to predict.

DISCLAIMERS

All of the ratings and price objectives have been first attributed to BofA Securities. Any additional ratings and price targets, if available, have also been assigned to firms by name. Oggonomics does not issue formal ratings or price targets of its own.

Oggonomics never supports using any single research report as the sole basis to buy or sell any stock. Analysts can be wrong and the overall landscape can change in the blink of an eye. Do not forget that analyst research reports never come with assured profits, and there are never any assurances that upside price targets will be achieved even if the company delivers on its expectations.

All stocks have risks that could result in financial loss. Biotechs have the potential for extreme losses that may be impossible to ever hope for recovery. You have been warned, so proceed at your own risk and please consult a financial advisor before you blindly consider biotech stocks with limitless upside potential.
